• No keyboard shortcuts for iOS in Things 3? You'd think there would have been time to add those in the fourteen years that it took to develop this version.

    The macOS version of Things has excellent keyboard support, but sadly none of it has made its way to iOS. There is not a single shortcut, which is difficult for me personally as an iPad-first user. It's surprising as well, since Things 2 at least had a handful of shortcuts on iPad.

  • AutoHotKey Script for Sanity

    If you live in Windows Hell during your workday, do yourself a favor. Install AutoHotKey. Then create a script and paste this:

    ;Remaps 'CMD S' to save
    !s::
        send !
        sleep, 500
        send f
        sleep, 300
        send s
    Return

    ; Switches left control & alt keys

    LCtrl::Alt
    LAlt::Ctrl
    LWin::LWin

    Set that script to load when Windows does. You're welcome.

  • The future of transportation

    It's not this. This is a neat concept, but the cost of doing this would be enormous, and the benefits aren't nearly enough.

    Fast, clean mass transit for most of our transportation needs is a much more real-world solution. It's also boring, which is why videos like this exist.

  • My avatar is finally live. Now Micro.blog feels more like home.

  • Micro.blog is live (sort of)

    It's live for some beta testers. It's public, of course, so there's nothing to hide. I decided not to go with my typical username, and snagged a better one instead. You can find me at: https://micro.blog/rob

    All of my actual microposts will come from here, so you won't be missing anything if you don't follow me there. Well, technically you won't be able to @ me or get my @ replies. That could be a bonus, depending how you look at it.

    Like I've said before, I don't know if this will become a thing or not. I hope it does, so I will try it out and see where it goes.

  • Nope.

    A Swedish firm in Stockholm - Epicenter - has offered to inject its staff with microchips for free, and around 150 of the company's young workforce have so far taken up the offer.

  • The phrase "this is not a political podcast" is always followed by at least one hour of political bullshit. This is a cardinal rule of podcasting.

  • It's an IRL Talk sort of day.

  • Scanning a pile of documents with Scanner Pro for OCR and importing into DEVONthink to go for tagging and filing.

    I'm fun.

  • Tim is taking a Twitter break.

    There are some things that I really need to spend some time on: my physical self, my mental self, my family, my home, my job, my podcast. And the list could go on. But you get the point.

    As someone who has been enjoying an extended Twitter break, I can confirm that other areas of my life have definitely improved.
