• Airmail

I feel stupid for not buying Airmail for iOS sooner. It's obviously better than anything I've ever used before.

I feel stupid for knowing that I'm about to spend an hour adjusting Airmail's settings. But there are approximately 8 billion settings, so it's going to take a while.

I feel really stupid for admitting to spending so much time on this in public.

  • Slack and /ignore

I am lucky enough to be a member of several great Slack teams. Most of the time, it's great. Fun conversation, good ideas, inside jokes - the whole works.

Each Slack team is like a little sliver of the wonderful things that the Internet has to offer, usually without the utter nonsense that Twitter so often devolves into. There are reasons that I haven't been on Twitter for several months. That stuff wears me out.

So Slack is the answer to all of our problems. Except it isn't.

All it takes in your team of 5,10,20, 50 awesome people is one. Just one person who talks about his or her favorite (or least favorite) politician constantly. Just one person who shoves The Right Opinions down your throats all day. Just one person who grates at you and just annoys the hell out of you every time you see those little words:

    XYZ is typing

Slack clearly needs a /ignore command.

One simple command, and everything is back to rainbows and puppy dogs. There are several Slack teams that I visit less and less frequently because they each have one person that I would be happier never hearing from. Without /ignore, I have to opt out of the whole team. That doesn't seem ideal.

  • Bank America's iOS App

Bank America has a brand new iOS app. Great, right? No. No it is not.

Someone decided to disable pasting in the password field. Do you want people to have shitty passwords? This is how you get shitty passwords.

  • Slack desperately needs a /ignore command.

  • iOS 10 Beta 3 installing now...

Hopefully this is the one that will exorcise the annoying rotation bugs.

  • Today is "Clean out my Drafts inbox" day. Apparently.

  • Evernote

Evernote's recent plan changes have me grateful that I dropped them several years ago.

Plain text all the things that you can. Dropbox folders for the rest. You'll only be let down when the robots take over, or Dropbox fails – whichever happens first.

  • Strips follow-up

The Strips experiment was a failure. I love the way they feel for the first day after they're applied. By the second to third day, the grippy layer comes apart from the adhesive layer, and they need to be replaced.

For now, I'm back to a very thin case on my 6S Plus.

Update: According to the Strip site, they are already working on a redesign. Hopefully they can deliver.

  • I really like the idea of an old family farm staying that way.

I haven't been to the farm in years. But I am looking forward to walking through the expansive lawn to the lake and towering pine trees. Even thought she has passed, her legacy will outlast my father and myself. It will remain a pristine part of the world. Nor a parking lot. Nor a mall. It will remain farmland and a legacy.
